In no particular order: Highway 79, Bow Willow Campground, Lake Cuyamaca, Anza Borrego Desert State Park, some random valley we hiked several miles into and back.
Absolutely nothing went as planned on this trip, but it was an amazing weekend.

Just a short bike ride away from the heart of North Park there is a little gem of a cafe tucked away in City Heights, right off Euclid. Nate’s is open for breakfast and lunch. Brian and I decided to head over there today for a quick day outing to de-stress and enjoy the beautiful warm weather.
Really it’s just lunch in the city but the vibe at Nate’s is so relaxed and peaceful that it felt like a mini-vacation. We were even greeted with a sunflower by two young girls who were spending their afternoon helping out at the flower shop next door. Funky Flowers, which we checked out after lunch, is a cheery little store that specializes in beautiful vegetable-and-flower arrangements. The lovely bouquets are so reasonably priced that I was tempted, especially by one bunch featuring kale and ranunculus.
On the other side of Nate’s is the City Farmer’s Nusery. It’s an amazing space filled with fountains, sunlight, live animals, and reasonably priced plants of all kinds. I think it’s a working farm. There’s something so warm and sincere about all of these little businesses, it quite made my day.
